Is anyone aware of a way to get an alternate position view to showup in a detail view?

Tried
1) Created a detail view of an assembly that had an alternateposition view in place

2) Tried the Alternate Position command on an existing detail view.

3) Clicked my heals together, spun around (3) times and chanted - Ineed an alternate position in this detail view.
