I'd like to add the materials that components are made of to the BOM in SolidWorks.

An example would be something that's machined out of bar stock.  I'd like to show the part number of the bar stock and the quantity consumed.  I don't mind entering it manually, but I need it to be there.  I'm on SolidWorks 2013, but while it will let me insert a row, I can't do anything with it like indent or demote.

Seems kind of stupid to have to create a piece of bar stock as a part and then create an assembly of the bar and cut it down.  I've seen that done, and it seemed to cause more problems that it was worth.
