Dear Super Users,
I’m experiencing an issue where the model moves off-screen while using the SpaceBall in SolidWorks 2025. Below is my conversation with our support team regarding the problem.
Unfortunately, the link provided by SolidWorks support isn’t working.
I’m wondering if anyone else has encountered this issue with the SpaceBall in SolidWorks. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
My message:
(Dear Support,
Please find attached the Rx report. Below is the problem description. Thank you very much!
"I've been having an issue with using 3d connexion space navigator in Solidworks 2025. The space navigator is using the latest driver.
The issue is the zoom in and zoom out is using a different center point. The rotating center is usually on screen, but the zoom center point is often off screen. This causes the model disappear from the screen while zooming in and out. This is very counterproductive.
I believe it is a product flaw. Could you please help with this?")
Solidworks response:
(Hi William,
SOLIDWORKS provided the following response:
We are able to reproduce the behaviour with and without Perspective view mode.
Notice that the Component origin / Centre of Gravity remains the same. ( User may toggle Evaluate > Mass Properties to see the CG triad ).
The 3DConnexion centre ( the Blue logo of 3dconnexion on the screen ), shifts with different orientations, this could be due to the way the 3DConnexion driver recognizes the screen space with respect to the model highlighted / loaded on the screen.
This issue occurred due to combination with use of a partner product " 3DConnexion" hardware and plug-in application with SOLIDWORKs as their driver application integration.
As the application support engineers for SOLIDWORKS we do not have the required expertise with the hardware plug-in configuration for3DConnexion Devices.
We would recommend working with the partner 3DConnexion reporting this issue as they have familiarity with SOLIDWORKS and access to the SOLIDWORKS family of products should an installation of SOLIDWORKS be needed for their testing.

The partner product have separate support way of requesting help to SOLIDWORKS API support if they need to have discussion of the issue observed.
Thus a fresh report to 3DConnexion team to move this case ahead for customer.
This is typical for any 3rd party add-ins for SOLIDWORKS to refer you the support for the specific add-in product as they are not the developer.)
