I'm just airing my frustration here, so anyone with similar problems please feel free to respond. I'm working on a multibody part file with a large number of patterned bodies that I reduce to a single body when (or at present, if) I am finished. My part file has grown from around 250Mb to around 2Gb since I changed a feature from a simple sweep to a loft. This body from this feature is patterned around 700 times then combined, etc later.
My PC is maxing out its 16Gb RAM and I'm getting 'Failed to Save'. The question I have is this: Is the large part file the cause of the failure to save or could it be because all my memory is being used? Soliwdorks is using about 6.5Gb of the available 16Gb and the task manager is showing around 15Gb in use. I'm not running anything else on the (new, i7 3770K) PC and need to decide whether to double my memory, invest in another CAD package or give up!
No, I can't show the model.... I've tried saving part of the model as Parasolid then inserting that geometry, deleting the original bodies, etc. All to no avail.
