I have an issue with pulling data from excel using the property tab builder for entry into a standard SolidWorks note in the drawing.
There are sometimes 2 lines of data for one field. Using the return in excel and having the data in one cell didn’t work well. It would show up the first time in the custom properties, but every time you would open the model again, the data would disappear from that point down and you would have to reenter this.
I have tried splitting the text into 2 cells and that works. The data doesn’t disappear when you go back into the model but it creates another issue as outlined below.
We have a standard note that we will pull the custom properties into. If the data contains a blank, it leaves an empty line in the note. (see attached images)
Is there a way to have the note skip a blank field and not leave the line blank? If that isn’t possible, is there another way to get 2 lines of text to work properly or have the property tab somehow combine the data into one line?
I don’t want to have to create a separate note for 1 line or 2 lines as this will increase the note templates from 6 to 12 and there would be increased chances of selecting the incorrect notes. We are trying to automate this process as much as possible to eliminate these types of errors.
I have searched the internet and knowledge base but couldn’t find anything that helped.
Please let me know what suggestions you have for resolving this issue.
Thanks,
Susan
