Use of *STABILIZE in Abaqus

Hi everyone,

I am running a simulation where I inject fluid into a crack. In defining this step, I use the *stabilize option as follows:

SOILS, consolidation, end=PERIOD, utol=10, STABILIZE=0.000000025

As you can see, I’ve chosen a value much lower than the Abaqus default of 2E-4.

I’m facing two main issues:

  1. Using this low value gives me results close to what I expect. However, ALLSD is 0.12 and ALLSE is 0.1. From what I’ve read, ALLSD/ALLSE should be <5%. If I try reducing the STABILIZE value further, the file size increases significantly (it’s already over 100GB).
  2. When I increase the STABILIZE value, the model converges faster, but the results deviate from the solution I’m looking for.

Are there any other parameters I could adjust to improve the model's stability without significantly altering the solution or increasing the file size? can a reduction of the value of utol help ? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks in advance.
