Does anyone known if Ubuntu/Kubuntu is officially supported?

I failed to install Abaqus 2016 on Kubuntu 16.04. It simply said that "Ubuntu is not an approved system" or something similar. Looking around on the net I found out that people have previously used the switch "-nosystemcheck" to install on systems over than RedHat, Suse, etc. However, that switch seems to no longer exist.
