Fabrication model, best practice?

Hi,

I'm working in the steel fabrication domain and want to utilize the power of visual scripting for engineering. I was wondering if there are some best practices on how to get "fabrication-ready" models from the design sequence? In other words, I'm struggling to go from the published volumes in the design sequence to separate parts in an assembly.

In my case I need to have each published volume (steel plate) as single parts, and if the geometry is equal to another part in the assembly, this should be an instance of that reference etc.

Do I have to make some custom EKL scripts or Engineering Templates, or is this something that can be done OOTB?

If anyone have a tutorial or example of this kind of application, it would be highly appreciated.

Thanks, Vegar
