Name: Pipeline Pilot Animation Studio
Author: Ian Kerman
Version: 1.0
Created: 4/2012
Requirements: Pipeline Pilot 8.5 or later; Imaging Collection
O/S: Linux
Known Limitations: This currently only works on Linux because it uses the ImageMagick installation included with the Imaging collection on Linux. If you install ImageMagick on your Windows server, you can set the ‘convert’ file path to point to your installation and it should work.
Do you look at the Pipeline Pilot components and wish the color scheme was more than just blue, green, and occasionally red? Did you grow up wanting to be an animator at a mouse-run company, but had the good fortune to become a Pipeline Pilot developer? Do you miss the days when animated GIFs ruled the World Wide Web? If you answered “Yes” to any of these questions, then I have the component that you’ve been waiting for!
Introducing the Pipeline Pilot Animation Studio, an all-in-one component (sort of) that allows you to craft stunning animations (sort of) with your favorite Scientific Pipelining tool. To use the PPAS, all you have to do is “paint” the frames of your animation using a two-dimensional array. Each array will then be rendered into an image and all resulting images will be merged into an animated GIF for display in your report. The PPAS gives you the ultimate control by allowing you to carefully (tediously) specify the color for each pixel in your image.
