We're in the process of upgrading to v8. Unfortunately I've found that none of my protocols that included the Excel Reader (on Server) - deprecated I know - now work.

Thought it would be because Excel hadn't been installed on a new server that we've also moved to but having since performed that install (Excel 2007) the component still doesn't function. Does it work at all in v8? Does it with Excel 2007 - our old server was running 2003?

I can and probably will shift everything to using hte Cross-platform Excel Reader but I do find it takes a lot longer to read the Excel file compared to the old Excel (on server) component. 12 vs 2 seconds is the difference. Because some of these protcols are running through the webport I wonder if there's anything I can do to up the speed as having users looking at a progress bar for ages doesn't appeal.

Any suggestions appreciated.
