I found that in confined shear task in Forcite module, we can add external force through the Perl script. But since during confined shear simulation, the atoms in the "walls" are only allowed to fluctuate around the equilibrium position, I would like to ask if it is still valid to add external force to the "walls"? I'm asking this because I saw a lot of papers used confined shear task or other method to realize similar friction process and added a vertical downward force to the topwall at the same time. I wonder if that is how they made it. Thank you very much!
