This script takes a molecule and creates a molecular surface. It then projects this surface on the x, y and z planes and calculates the area of each projection. The projections are visualized using slices.

These quantities can be useful to characterize adsorption or to use as descriptors in QSAR (shadow indices).

The example is for a dendrimer molecule and takes about 30 seconds to complete. It requires Materials Studio 4.2 or above.
