Hi there,
This script reads in a Materials Studio xsd file and writes out a formatted POV-Ray file to the output window. You can then copy the contents of the output window straight into POV-ray and render a scene. You will obviously need to have POV-ray installed on your computer to use this script.
This script recognises different rendering types for atoms of CPK, Ball and Stick, Stick, and Line and will size them appropriately. It also renders the colors as shown in the XSD.
The idea of this script is to get the basic functionality, ie the atoms and bonds, into the POV-ray format. You will need to play with the camera and lighting positions to get the effects you need. You will also need to copy the output from the output tab into an empty POV-ray window to render it.
Limitations: This script only renders atoms and in this state only works on molecules. The script does not deal with bond type at the moment and renders everything as single bonds. If someone wishes to extend it, please do so!
As usual, any feedback or comments are appreciated.
Best regards,
Stephen
