When I add an external force to one set of atoms during MD simulation, I found that the net force of other atoms in my system equals the net force of the set with an external force and have opposite direction. That is to say, the net force of the whole system is zero. Is the net force of the whole system must be zero? Can I do something to make the net force of the whole system not be zero?
