I have executed following commands to install the license for a new server,

# . /opt/BIOVIA/LicensePack/etc/lp_profile
# lp_install /tmp/msi.lic

I received following error message,

Backing up existing license to Licenses/backup directory.
The license file has been successfully installed under /opt/BIOVIA/LicensePack/Licenses/msi.lic.
Attempting to start the server...
license manager: can't initialize: Invalid license file syntax.
License path:  /opt/BIOVIA/LicensePack/Licenses/msi.lic:/opt/BIOVIA -
   /LicensePack/share/data/server/lp_version.lic
FLEXnet Licensing error:-2,40027

The license server could not be started. Refer to the License Pack documentation or contact BIOVIA Support for assistance.

Run lp_set_env

    OR

csh: source /opt/BIOVIA/LicensePack/etc/lp_cshrc
sh:  . /opt/BIOVIA/LicensePack/etc/lp_profile

to refresh shell license administration environment setup.
