I am using a teaching license of Materials Studio 7.0 for a class on molecular simulations.
When students work from home on an assignment they need to use vpn (virtual private network) to be able to connect to license server.
I do use vpn in combination with Mat. Studio 7.0 myself too and it works fine.
One of my students has the following problem.
When he uses vpn then even local jobs (i.e. client and MatServer running on his own computer) do not run well.
The status of the job is 'running'. MatServer is running and using CPU (as seen from the taskmanager in Windows 7).
However, no number shows up under the 'Progress' header, the job does not finish and does not seem to create output.
I guess that the communication between client and server is disturbed by the vpn connection, but I must say I do not understand what is happening.
His vpn connection seems fine. His settings are the same as mine and he has access to the universities network.
Also Materials Studio seems to be installed well. If he runs jobs from within the university (and does not use vpn) all works well.
Is this issue known? Is the sollution known? If not does anyone have a suggestion?
