Calculating Si L-edge EELS using CASTEP modules

Hello, I am trying to calculate Si L23-edge using core level spectroscopy module implemented in CASTEP. Problems encountered are that (1) ranges of calculated DOS are limited to ~30 eV above Fermi level (though I used maximum DOS range parameters of ~70 eV) and (2) still, there are several features above ~30 eV in calculated EELS spectrum. As there are several features at ~30-40 eV in EELS spectrum, I believe that there should be corresponding density of states (in this L-edge case, it would be mainly s and d orbitals). However, partial density of states in case_EELS.castep file is not accessible and only available information is total density of state. I am wondering (1) whether potential information on partial density of states in case_EELS.castep could be accessible and (2) if EELS spectrum is not entirely originated from density of states (in case that partial density of state from case_DOS.castep and that from case_EELS.castep is equivalent), what could be the possible origin of the backgrounds above ~30-40 eV.

Thank you for your helps!
