We have become aware of a previously unknown bug that will cause DMol3 to stop working after 31 October 2008. We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience this bug causes to our customers and for the short notice given. Unfortunately, this problem cannot be resolved by issuing a new license, but instead requires us to deliver new DMol3 executables to all customers, including those on perpetual licenses. The affected products include:
· DMol3, QMERA, and DMol3 QSAR Descriptors in Materials Studio (MS) 4.1, 4.2, and 4.3
· DMol3 Descriptors and the DS QUANTUMm module in Discovery Studio (DS) 2.0 and 2.1.
In Materials Studio, DMol3 will generate the message "This version has expired" in the output file. MS QMERA, DS QUANTUMm, and DMol3 Descriptions will simply fail with no error message. DMol3 in versions prior to Materials Studio 4.1 is not affected, and no DS or MS modules other than those listed above are affected by this issue.
We are working diligently to resolve the issue for all customers as quickly as possible and have made the following available:
· A hotfix for MS DMol3 4.3 which you can download from:
http://accelrys.com/downloads/updates/materials-studio/...io43/mstudio431.html.
On Linux, this requires you to replace only the DMol3 executable but involves manually copying files; on Windows, the hotfix will automatically replace the DMol3 executable.
· A full installer for MS 4.3 that includes the fix for DMol3 is available on Accelrys' Electronic Download Site at:
https://accelrys.subscribenet.com/control/accl/index
This installer will automatically install the correct version of DMol3 but requires you to uninstall and reinstall MS 4.3.
· A hotfix for MS DMol3 4.2 is available at:
http://accelrys.com/downloads/updates/materials-studio/...io42/mstudio422.html
This requires you to replace only the DMol3 executable but involves manually copying files (on both Linux and Windows).
For Discovery Studio 2.0 and 2.1 customers and for customers running earlier versions of Materials Studio (4.1), we intend to issue appropriate updates no later than 27 October. An email notification will be sent with the proper link and information.
Please contact Accelrys Support by phone or email if you have any questions about this update or about any aspect of Accelrys' quantum mechanics tools.
