Q: When I tried opening the sample presentation installed in C:\\Program Files\\Accelrys\\DS ActiveX Control 3.1\\share\\Samples\\PowerPoint, it would not open because it is read-only.

A: If you do not have admin priviledges, the files in that directory will be read-only. You can save a local writeable copy as follows:

1. Open the samples page in a browser: C:\\Program Files (x86)\\Accelrys\\DS ActiveX Control 3.1\\share\\Samples\\Samples.htm.
   
2. Right-click the link to the PowerPoint sample and choose Save Target As....
   
3. Save the copy to a folder that you have write permissions for and open the presentation from there.
