Discovery Studio DMol3 Critical update

The following notice was sent to Accelrys' DMol3 customers:

We have become aware of a previously unknown bug that will cause your version of DMol3 to stop working after 31 October 2008. We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience this bug causes to our customers and for the short notice given. Unfortunately, this problem cannot be resolved by issuing a new license, but instead requires us to deliver new DMol3 executables to all customers, including those on perpetual licenses. The affected products include:

- 'Calculate Molecular Properties', 'Calculate Energy (QM-MM)' and 'Minimization (QM-MM)' in Discovery Studio 2.1

- 'Calculate Molecular Properties' in Discovery Studio 2.0

These protocols make use of the DMol3 server and will fail with the following errors:

- The 'Calculate Molecular Properties' protocol will appear to succeed, but if the calculation of density functional QM properties have been requested, the generated .sd file will show errors for these properties.

- The 'Calculate Energy (QM-MM)' and 'Minimization (QM-MM)' protocols will fail with an error. The DMol3 output file will contain the error message 'This version has expired'.

We are working diligently to resolve the issue for all customers as quickly as possible and have made the following available:

- An update for Discovery Studio 2.1 (Update 1) is available at http://accelrys.com/downloads/updates/discovery-studio/...io21/dstudio211.html. The update provides new versions of the 'ds' and 'dsqmmm' component collections and can be installed by following the instructions in the included README.

- A full installer for Discovery Studio 2.1 (2.1.1) that includes new versions of the 'ds' and 'dsqmmm' component collections. This is available on Accelrys' Electronic Download Site, http://accelrys.subscribenet.com.
This installer will install the complete product or automatically update an existing installation of Discovery Studio 2.1 when it already exists.

- An update for Discovery Studio 2.0 (Update 2) is available at http://accelrys.com/downloads/updates/discovery-studio/...io20/dstudio202.html. The update provides new versions of the 'ds' component collection and can be installed by following the instructions in the included README.
