Tutorials steps not fully described?

Hi,

I'm new to 3d CAD and solid works. I used to work in AutoCAD 2d as work  (ACAD 14 would have been the last version i used - that far back :-) ). I miss working in CAD but always wanted to do 3d drawing. I have some time on my hands and decided that SolidWorks offers a very good value licence for me and to achieve learning 3d drawing/modeling for 2025.

I understand 3d space and drawing and a lot of the basic concepts (I think :-) ). However i am trying to follow the Tutorials that are under the help icon within the program. The first few were pretty straight forward and i got through them pretty easy and quick.

I started getting stuck on the Surfaces Lesson (trying to get the nozzle to extrude to the handle (it is not really telling me which surface to select - is it the edge or the end face etc.??? I have tried multiple selections on the different parts to loft / extrude)

So i abandoned that lesson for a while and moved onto the next one (Sheet Metal)

On the Sheet metal lesson - "Creating an edge Flange" part of the lesson. I cannot seem to use the smart dimension to have the Flange 36mm in from the edge. (From step 5 of this lesson) there seem to be information or a step missing? I think i should be selecting the PLANE that corresponds with the edge of the main body (the edge that the flange is attached to). But can't seem to get it working for me - the lesson does nto say anymore than use Smart dimension....

Is there a more detailed lesson set or tutorial set for the current version of SolidWorks Connected?

As I'm a beginner I can't seem to find the intuitiveness of the software...

Is there an independent source of lessons for a beginner that i can use from on line (or a book i can purchase?) I don't have anyone to discuss these issues with as i'm not in the industry any more.
