SolidWorks Connector Install

Just a short step by step for those students looking to "connect" SolidWorks with the 3DExperience platform on a Windows based computer.

1. Login to 3DExperience

2. In "My 3D Modeling Apps" find the "SolidWorks" Connector App and click on it to start it.

3. The SolidWorks connector requires that you have the newest version of Java installed, so you may have to download the new Java version and install it before you can proceed.

4. Once you confirm that the newest version of Java is installed, You can install the "Hotfix" that will allow your 3DExperience and SolidWorks that is installed on your computer to "talk".

5. Because you are installing software on your harddrive, it's a good idea to "restart" your computer after installing the Hotfix to let all of the computer technology to fully load everything.

6. After restarting your computer, Log back into 3DExperience and go to 3DDrive and select a(n) "STL" or "SLDPRT" file that you have uploaded to your 3DDrive. Right click on the file and you will see a dropdown menu appear. At the bottom of the dropdown list select "Open With" and select "SolidWorks" (If SolidWorks isn't there, then your install wasn't complete.)

7. When you select "SolidWorks" in the drop down list your computer will look on your harddrive and start SolidWorks, and open the file you selected in 3DDrive.

8. At this point, your file should be open in SolidWorks ready for you to work your magic on it!
