POTY_2022 -A Multi-Functional Prosthetic Leg to Fundamentally Support the Patient with Transtibial Amputation

Hello everyone,

This is my final year design project, which I've been working on over the last few months. It also is my first time entering the project of the year contest 2022. I'm hoping for a wonderful journey.

The design provides the ability to keep working to people who have faced traumatic injury and limb amputation that has affected those individuals’ sense of identity. This project has a numeric step-wise methodological approach which helps the project to work as a functional extension. Our system uses a high torque servo motor as a power source of leg joints and a damper to benefit from the elastic energy storage and release during walking and running gaits. The gait control was implemented using three sensors for feedback. The gait phase was determined using a gyro sensor that measured the angle of the knee and ankle joints. The Hall effect sensor has been utilized as a distance sensor as well as a toggle switch that can maintain its position in an emergency. A pressure sensor has been used to measure the pressure in each gait phaseto get feedback data. All the sensors measure motion in the sagittal plane. The fundamental underlying reason behind this project is to enable the patient withTranstibial amputation to walk, ascend stairs, sit and do basic movements in a very cost effective way. The ultimate goal is to make the design very compact, light weight and user friendly. In order to complete our project, we are utilizing 3D printing, CNC cutting, and molding. Solidworks motion analysis, stress analysis are being used pn a daily basis to finalize each component before printing, cutting and molding.

Lastly Solidworks visualize has been used for the rendering of some close shot.
