Is there a difference between iso M3 and ANSI Metric M3X0.5 in the thread or they are the same but different in notation?

I have seen in the Hole wizard of solidworks if we use straight tap for hole type then we can choose M3 size with standard ISO or we can choose M3X0.5 with standard ANSI Metric, and I don't know if they are the same exactly or not.
