I have created a model (4mm Dia and 4mm height cylinder) in Abaqus standard. The model is dynamic/implicit. I want to run the compression test for time period of 4.5E-6 seconds. Which boundary condition should I use for the test? I used velocity boundary condition at one side while other is encastre. I am applying a velocity of 4000 mm/sec, to get a strain rate of 1000/s.

Is this a right procedure? Or is there an alternative way to ensure a constant applied strain rate of 1000/s for the time period?
