Flown! Supersonic Model Rocket with Control System CADded with 3DExperience

ZENIT is my 3rd actively stabilized rocket. After 12 flights on a cheap plastic rocket, I upgraded to a carbon/fiberglass monster designed for 3-axis stabilization at supersonic speeds, powered by my same custom flight computer. It flew to 12,600 ft at Mach 1.7 and 31Gs on an Aerotech solid motor.

The airframe integrates ultra-slim servos, 3D-printed/composite fin assembly, wiring shrouds, custom motor retainer and fairings that allow for quick replacements of wirings. The flight computer logs 30+ parameters at 100 Hz while controlling all 4 control tabs.
As part of my graduate project, I’m demonstrating measuring supersonic control effectiveness using open-loop doublet maneuvers on a low-cost platform.

Next: roll stabilization → roll program → full 3-axis stabilization → 40,000+ ft on a 3" booster
