Abstract

This project presents the design and optimization of a mobile stand using SolidWorks. The stand is designed to provide a stable and ergonomic solution for holding mobile devices at an optimal viewing angle. The initial design was created based on standard mobile dimensions and user ergonomics. After performing finite element analysis (FEA) simulations, the structure was optimized to reduce material usage while maintaining strength and durability.

The final design ensures lightweight construction, enhanced stability, and ease of manufacturability using materials like ABS plastic or aluminum. The stand can support devices ranging from smartphones to tablets, withstanding daily usage stresses effectively.

Metrology

Metrology is essential for ensuring the accuracy, precision, and quality of the designed mobile stand. The following metrology techniques and parameters are considered for verifying the stand's dimensions, strength, and surface finish:

Conclusion

The design and optimization of the mobile stand in SolidWorks successfully achieved a lightweight, durable, and ergonomic solution for supporting mobile devices. Through Finite Element Analysis (FEA) simulations, the stand was structurally optimized to ensure stability under applied loads while minimizing material usage.

Metrology techniques such as dimensional accuracy checks, surface roughness analysis, and load-bearing tests were implemented to validate the design's precision and reliability. The final design ensures ease of manufacturability, supports a wide range of mobile devices, and maintains an optimal viewing angle for user comfort.
