Hello,
My FTC team recently applied for the SOLIDWORKS Desktop + Cloud Services package using the following form:
We have received our SOLIDWORKS Desktop licenses and can successfully access the 3DEXPERIENCE platform. However, we are currently unable to connect our SOLIDWORKS Desktop installation to our 3DEXPERIENCE account.
After investigating the issue further, I believe the problem is related to our 3DEXPERIENCE roles/entitlements, rather than the SOLIDWORKS installation itself.
Our account currently has the following roles:
- 3DSwymer
- Collaborative Industry Innovator
However, we do not have a SOLIDWORKS-specific role such as:
- Collaborative Designer for SOLIDWORKS
- SOLIDWORKS Design
I have also found SOLIDWORKS documentation/training material stating that a SOLIDWORKS Desktop user needs the appropriate SOLIDWORKS role, such as Collaborative Designer for SOLIDWORKS or SOLIDWORKS Design, to use the SOLIDWORKS–3DEXPERIENCE integration.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QfED2ELfFfk&t=165s
This appears consistent with what we are experiencing. Although the SOLIDWORKS Add-In is available and installed, the platform is provisioning the SOLIDWORKS Connector to 3DEXPERIENCE Drive rather than the SOLIDWORKS integration components required for the Desktop connection.
As a result, when SOLIDWORKS starts, it displays:
“Connecting to 3DEXPERIENCE…”
for approximately two minutes, after which the message disappears. SOLIDWORKS never becomes connected to the platform, and the 3DEXPERIENCE functionality remains unavailable/greyed out.
We have already ruled out a local installation or network issue by:
- Reinstalling the SOLIDWORKS 3DEXPERIENCE Add-In
- Completely reinstalling SOLIDWORKS
- Reinstalling Windows
- Testing on multiple computers
- Testing on multiple networks
The problem is consistent across all of these systems.
Request:
Could you please check our team's 3DEXPERIENCE role and entitlement provisioning and determine whether we are missing the SOLIDWORKS-specific role required for the Desktop integration?
In particular, could you please clarify:
- Which role included with the SOLIDWORKS Desktop + Cloud Services sponsorship is supposed to provide the SOLIDWORKS Desktop ↔ 3DEXPERIENCE integration?
- Is that role currently assigned to our account?
- If it is not assigned, could it please be provisioned for our team?
If Collaborative Designer for SOLIDWORKS is not the appropriate role for our sponsorship, please identify the exact SOLIDWORKS role/entitlement that is supposed to provide the same functionality.
I am not requesting assistance with logging into 3DEXPERIENCE. We are already able to authenticate and use the platform. The issue is specifically that our SOLIDWORKS Desktop installation does not receive/establish the required 3DEXPERIENCE integration.
I have also recorded the issue to illustrate the problem and can provide the diagnostic logs, screenshots, installation information, or any other information required.
Thank you for your assistance,
Alex - Team 20991 FRITES
