Hy everyone, i'm working on a 3d scans (.stl files). I'm turning them into a mesh and then generating a surface.

I'm trying the "automatic surface" command. If i use it on large files (like entire engine o something), even with low quality value like 500 or 1'000 (the automatic reccomended value is 40'000), it cannot finish the tranformation: it crash and say than he can't continue and that he need to restart.

Then, i cannot understand the real meaning of the "mean surface deviation" value [mm]. I put one and in the results, the sotware told me that he used an other value.

I have no problem with lighter pieces, i can generate surface with no problem and with the values that i want (apart from the mean surface deviation problems).

could someone help me understand the values ​​and how to use them? Thank you very much.
