I will be presenting a breakout session at SOLIDWORKS World 2016 on Monday at 2:45pm (tentative).  I'm planning on reviewing the Document Manager API in three scenarios: custom properties, BOM table export and reference reporting.  Are there details you'd like to see covered?  If you agree with someone else's response, make sure to "Like" it.
