Summary: Use Pack and Go instead of File Save As
Context based features in an assembly are easy to screw up whensaving an assembly to a new file name.
In the olden days, File Save As had an option button labeled"References". In that dialog you could change the names of thefiles in order to maintain the context file relations.
The current functionality in SW08 breaks that tradition. You canstill go through the gestures in what looks like a Referencesdialog, but you end up with broken contexts no matter what optionsyou select.
Theimproved functionality requires that you use Pack and Goinstead of File Save As. With Pack and Go, you can change the filenames to maintain the context in the new assembly. It sortofresembles the old References dialog. It even kept the tools to dostring replacements and path changes.
Note that Pack and Go is available through Windows Explorer - youdon't have to launch SolidWorks. Just right click on the assemblyfile name, scroll down to SolidWorks, scroll over to Pack and Go.
The Pack and Go interface takes a lot of double clicking to get thefile names to change, but that's all part of Reducing the CADOverhead.
Why the References dialog wasn't completely replaced with Pack andGo is a mystery to me. Perhaps that is fodder for an enchantmentrequest.SolidworksAssemblies
