Over the last ten years of using SolidWorks here we have beenusing a range of standard numbering conventions in the fileproperties, which in turn feed BOM's and Sheet Notes, etc.
"PartNo" & "Number" are the two primary versions that we usedfor BOM's. The former when we used the Excel BOM (all we hadavailable), and the latter with the PDM Vault implemented and thenew tables/configuration conventions. We have long since dropped"PartNo" altogether.
However, I use "PARTNUMBER" and "prp@Number" (linked in a DesignTable) to ensure that configurations have the correct part numberin the Bill of Materials and that everything matches in the vaultas well.
Today I was re-populating my list in File Properties after a repairI ran and I found another in the default list - "SW-Part Number".Is this something that came in with PDM Enterprise? I haven't usedit and probably won't start using it, but I would like tounderstand the intent and use.
Bottom line, I guess I would like a silver bullet, single stylepart number that works accross configurations, Bill of Materialsand in the vault as well - but I doubt that there is one... Anycomments?
