I know that I am not the only one thinking about all the new possibilities with a new input device called SURFACE DIAL.
some of you might think ...hmm it's just a context sensitive dial
but I want to talk to those of you that are enthusiatic about this new device:
forget about the What's new - documentation - what we really dream of is:
fast but accurate inputs
haptic feedback - we don't want to look at the device itself
use it directly on the viewport
configure it with our own commands...
and if you're not aware... all these points are possible with the surface dial.
fast and accurate - because it works like a mouse wheel
haptic feedback - it vibrates during scrolling and when performing a "force-touch/click"
direct on viewport - you can place it on certain devices and it will automatically reveal the features/commands
configure - by default there are some ways to configure the commands (not in detail but hey... there is a way )
If there is enough feedback here I'll link a hands-on video in this thread showing some basic capabilities.
btw.: ...no, I am not an SW-employee; I just want some new (and cheap - about 80€) inputdevices in addition to the vintage-2D mouse and 3d-logitech stuff.
