Overview

With SOLIDWORKS Visualize 2021, we have added the ability to specify configurations of a SOLIDWORKS part or assembly model to be available when you open the model in SOLIDWORKS Visualize.

Whereas previously, SOLDWORKS Visualize would only open the active configuration when the file was last saved.

In order to get access to the configurations in SOLIDWORKS Visualize, the file must be prepared in SOLIDWORKS first.

Saving Configuration Data to SOLIDWORKS File

   1. Open the SOLDWORKS part or assembly file in SOLIDWORKS 2019, 2020 or 2021

   2. Select the Configuration Manager tab

• Right click on a configuration that you would like to see in SOLIDWORKS Visualize

   3. Select the option, “Add Display Data Mark"

• The configurations that you mark will show the eye icon to indicate that the "Display Data Mark" has been added to the configuration.

   4. Enable this for any configurations that you want to see in SOLIDWORKS Visualize and save the file.

   5. You can right-click and choose Remove Display Data Mark to unmark the configuration.

<p><span style="color: #333333;"><strong>Note: Increase File Size</strong></span></p><p><br><span style="color: #000000;">Enabling “Display Data Mark” will increase the size of the SOLIDWORKS file when it is saved, and it will also increase the size of the SOLIDWORKS Visualize project which is saved after importing multiple configurations.</span></p>

   1. Launch SOLIDWORKS Visualize 2021 Beta

   2. Import the saved SOLIDWORKS part or assembly with configuation data

• File > Import

   3. The saved SOLIDWORKS configuration data will be imported as additional Model Sets:

• Located in the Palette > Models tab.
• The Model Set name will match the configuration name.

   4. Select the Model Sets drop down menu to switch between the imported SOLIDWORKS Configuration data.
