Some of you out there may have run in to a slight issue, Solidworks Electrical might complain about installing on 64bit machines with Office 2007 installed! The reason for this is when you install SWE, it installs the Microsoft Access Database Engine Driver. It attempts to install the proper version for your machine (32 or 64 bit), but the 64 bit version conflicts with Office 2007, which only came in the 32 bit flavor.
To fix this:
- Download AccessDatabaseEngine_x64.exe from Microsofts website
- Open up a command prompt (Start -> type "cmd", press Enter), and navigate to the folder where you have downloaded the above file
- Install it using the command "AccessDatabaseEngine_x64.exe \passive"
The \passive option forces the driver to be installed, even when you have Office 2007 installed. You should now be able to install SWE. We have done this on several computers now (rather than paying \$200 to upgrade to Office 2010), and it has worked out well. I'm not sure if they have fixed this on newer service packs, but hopefully this can help somebody.
