SOLIDWORKS 2019 beta 2 has the ability to list down Annotations in the Feature Manager Design Tree within Annotation Views. This provides good visibility of the annotations and the ability to organize them within the annotation views. This functionality can be further used to capture feature rich 3D Views.
It is likely that we pull out this feature for beta 3 and final release of 2019 but before doing that we would like some feedback from you. Your feedback will help us improve the functionality and bring it back in next release.
Available features are...
- Listing of annotations like - Dimensions and tolerances, Datum feature symbols, Geometric dimensions and tolerances, Surface finishes, Weld symbols, Tables, Notes & Balloons.
- Cross Highlighting – selecting any annotation in the Feature Manager Tree cross highlights the same in the graphics area & the other way around.
- Sorting of Annotations by View or Type - This works at Top Level and also for individual Annotation View level.
- “Select Annotation View” in the context menu (Right Click Menu) provide ability to move selected annotation(s) to another view. This can be done using the ' ~ ' (Tilde key) from the keyboard.
- 3D Views – When you capture 3D Views, it remembers the hide/show state of the annotations. This provides seamless workflow for capturing 3D Views that can be used to create high quality 3D PDF’s for further use.
Provide us feedback on…
- Annotation listing & sorting: Does this feature help you organize annotations as desired to reduce clutter? Does it ease to locate annotations you are looking for?
- Annotations in 3D Views: Is this feature helpful in creating 3D Views.
Known issues:
Only the Annotations types listed above are supported in the Feature Manager Tree listing.
