I'm looking at venturing into the DIY CNC realm.  If I was going to throw a couple thousand bucks at something what would be your first choice?

I've looked at a makerbot 3d printer and the bluechick CNC router table from buildyourcnc.com.

Thoughts?  Please also share what you use (or would use) your cnc for.
