Jumping dimensions

This has been bugging me for a while, I sent my VAR the question in 10/2011, which they forwarded to SW, and I received my reply today.  In short, SW told my VAR "it's working as intended".  Knowledge base article S-056889.

The short story of my gripe: I use insert model items to bring a dimension into an existing drawing, be pre-selecting a feature.  My new dimension(s) come into the drawing view, and existing dimensions jump to some new spacing.  Sometimes the new spacing is on the opposite side of my drawing view, or off the entire drawing.  I stare at my screen in amazement.

Step by step gripe:

  1. I add a feature to an existing part, let’s say a hole.
  2. This existing part has a drawing already, with hundreds of dimensions on it, how about 25 per drawing view.
  3. I pre-select a feature, use ‘insert model items’, to get the dimension of the new feature (hole) into the existing drawing.  I like this method, since I can change the model from the drawing, and for various other reasons.
  4. My current dimensions on the view I inserted the new feature’s (hole) dimensions into are now spaced newly, and most likely I have to move dimensions I didn’t plan on moving.
  5. Time wasted for myself, and possibly others that have to use the drawing.

I know of the associated work arounds, but to me, it's broken.  Please fix.
