Any thoughts from the pro's at SolidWorks about the viability of "Unlimited Detail"? I've seen this pop up in a few science news places.

For anyone who doesn't want to read the whole story, basically, instead of creating polygons, it creates point clouds.
Would this be a viable solution for the SolidWorks graphical display (if it proves to be a viable technology at all)?
I like the idea of being able to do a 3D scan of an object, and actually use that data directly to create a 3D "universe". I could see great potentials for creating virtual environments based on actual scans of real 3D objects. This has nothing to do with SolidWorks, but interesting none-the-less.
