I have an idea.
After a few years of having problems with SolidWorks crashing andalways thinking it was the user I have finally realized that it isusually the way the program is installed. There have been manytimes that I get a bad install after doing a traditional update(just updating, not cleaning or doing any prep) and the only fix isto completely uninstall and wipe my system clean. Getting aninstallation problem is almost always inevitable whether theprogram is installed from an admin image, dvd, download orinstallation manager. It could be issues with old files not beingoverwritten, the registry or the lack of understanding from IT andnot having the correct permissions. I have attempted to avoid theseproblems by always wiping my system clean of anything SWx andinstalling the update brand new. This is a pain.
So I propose an installation check tool. Yes there is Rx thatchecks your system and a few settings but I am talking about theactual installation result. This could check your registry, thefiles that the installation is referencing, system settings andpossibly optimize some system settings for you.
Any takers? What do you think?SolidworksGeneral
