My company has a need to install andmaintainmore than one version of SolidWorks. Currently I have2006sp4.1 and also need 2007 sp2.2 loaded on the samecomputer. Iwork with different clients that require differentversions of thesoftware which requires this type ofinstallation. Duringinstallation 2006 is located in thedefault C:\\ProgramFiles\\SolidWorks with the data in C:\\ProgramFiles\\CommonFiles\\Solidworks Data. When installing 2007 Ispecified aunique folder C:\\Program Files\\SolidWorks2007 with thedata inC:\\Program Files\\Common Files\\Solidworks Data2007. Ineedthis installed this way so the 2006 reference items do notgetwritten over by 2007.
In other CAD software by giving a newfolderduring installation the application would know the path forallitems related to the software (i.e. bend tables, sheet metalgaugetables, etc.). With SolidWorks I have to go into theoptionsmenu and rename all the file locations for all thereferencefiles.
I am looking for someone that may knowaneasier way to install more than one version of the software onthesame computer. Is this the easiest way to do this or isthereanother way?
