Upon inserting a part into an assembly, is there any controlas to where the part is placed in the "depth" field? Small partsare difficult to see when placed in large assemblies (in this case,a Peterbilt truck chassis 40 feet long "and" the monstros of anarticulating machine we are building mounted to the frame) so auser would tend to zoom to the area where the part will reside. Butupon placing the part, it always seems to find it's way "behind"the forward most components, most of the time in the middle ofeverything. My fix is to zoom way back, "control + down arrow" toroll the assembly 90 deg, choose the part in the feature tree, select "move component" and drag the item to a point where it wouldnow be in front of all other items when I do a "control + up arrow"to get back to the plane where I was, zoom in and mate the part inplace.
I would think a "magic" key combo would allow the placed part to beat the forefront of the other residing components so a "search" isnot needed.
At the least, I'm glad to know that "dragging" a part in anassembly results in the part moving in the plane "parallel" to theviewing plane. Some control exhists you could say.
Anyone??? Thanks, Rusty.SolidworksApi macros
