TL;DR:

A fix for the 3DEXPERIENCE R2026x SOLIDWORKS® Design app issue has been released via HotFix 1.8, available through the 3DEXPERIENCE platform (Compass > SOLIDWORKS Design app > "Update available").

Affected Users

• Only impacts 3DEXPERIENCE SOLIDWORKS for Makers (not SOLIDWORKS xDesign for Makers).
• Occurs on machines with Microsoft Edge WebView2 Runtime 146.0.3856.xx (updated since March 13, 2026).
• Not limited to R2026x HF1.7.

Key Updates

• HotFix 1.8 replaces the earlier QA00000445516 (no uninstall needed).
• QA00000445516 (released March 18, 2026) was a temporary fix—now obsolete.
• Workaround (pre-HotFix): Renaming SWK3DCompassAddin.dll allowed offline SOLIDWORKS use.
