I am trying to make a part appear transparent without being able to click through it. By that I mean, I don't want the "Change Transparency" button to be selected, like it is in the attached picture.I want to still be able to select the part without clicking through it or having to use Select Other, the transparency being a purely visual effect without changing how I interact with the part.

I am aware of the transparency slider on in the appearances tab under Illumination, but any transparency greater than 0.0 causes the part to be "click-through-able", for lack of a better word. It gives the visual effect that I want, as shown here with 0.4 transparency, but I still click through the object.

Is there any way of doing is, or am I stuck using "select other"?
