Can we have EPDM clear the local cache after every check in?

Have you ever been asked “Can we have EPDM clear the local cache after every check in?” and had to answer negatively?
Well… Today is the day that the old proverbs “You can’t teach an old dog new tricks” does not apply.

Just use Dispatch!
To define this Dispatch action; you have to disregard some interface labels in the Dispatch dialogs.  The activation trigger is called “During check out”, the condition must be set to “Check in” and the activation time must be set to “After check out change has occurred.”

When multiple files are checked in at once e.g.: a check in of an assembly and its components, enclose the “Delete file” command with %PathToSelectedFile% between “For all documents” and “End for all documents” commands.
IMPORTANT: Do not check the option to delete files from the vault.

The “check in” action is performed only when the file or its data card are changed since the check out, an “Undo check out” is performed when no changes were made.  To clear the local cache for those files, you can create a similar action and select “Undo check out” as the condition.

The dispatch actions provided with the tip MUST BE VERIFIED and TESTED in YOUR ENVIRONMENT BEFORE using it in production.

Stay safe,
