Assembly Visualization - New Performance Analysis

Performance Analysis button is a shortcut for an Assembly Visualization template containing: SW-Open Time, Total Graphic-Triangles and SW Rebuild-Times.

Notes:

  1. SW-Open Time should be studied in Nested view, since it is a relevant per component. Each assembly or part file will be loaded and their load time recorded. The quantity has no impact on the load time. Save to Excel using these settings, and add the numbers in the SW-Open Time column for the total opening time:

Make sure not to exclude hidden components, since they get loaded too.

2. Total Graphics-Triangles should be studied in the Flat View/ Grouped, since is relevant per part instance. Save to Excel using these settings, and add the numbers in the Total Graphics-Triangles column for the total number of triangles in the assembly. Want to reduce it? #TASK will do that for you for free, until SPR 1010093 (Image quality option “Apply to all referenced part documents” option at assembly level does not apply quality settings to referenced parts or sub assemblies) will be implemented.

Make sure not to exclude hidden components, since their triangles are calculated too.

3. I do not understand why the SW-Rebuild Time column has been included here. The rebuild time at a part level has zero relevancy for the assembly opening time, if the part has no in-context relations. I saw many presentations, where the presenter makes this value seem very important.

In truth, no part should be rebuilt during the assembly opening, if best practices are followed.

I would prefer to see a column called SW-Rebuild Time In-Context, that would list the rebuild times of the components whose rebuild is triggered by in-context operations during the assembly opening phase. Such values are already available in the Performance Evaluation tool, but would make a lot of sense to be available in the Assembly Visualization also.
