Assemblies swapping parts after replace

We have had several users who have replaced parts in anassembly, done a CTRL-Q. Saved and closed the assembly. Only toopen it the next day and the parts they replaced are gone and theoriginal parts are back. In the latest round the user had fourinstances of a gear in the assembly. Decided he needed to changetwo of them. He opened the gear, did a Save As Copy, gave it a newpart number / name. Opened the new copy, made the alterations forhis new version. Then in the assembly replaced 2 of the 4 gearinstances with his new gear. CTRL-Q, save. Closed the assembly. That was last Friday. Opened the assembly today and the two newgears were swapped out for the original ones. The file names aredifferent, they are all in the same folder. Replace them again, check the find references it "says" it is looking at the new parts.CTRL-Q, save close. Open it back up, and the old parts are back. Weended up having to move the old gears to a completely differentfolder so the assembly could not find them. Open the assembly.Ignore the missing gears. Let it find the new ones that are supposeto be in there. CTRL-Q, save, close. Put the original gears backinto the project folder. Open the assembly. Everything is fine. Anyinsight anyone has is greatly appreciated. You can email medirectly at dparr@acro.com.

Thank you,SolidworksAssemblies
