Welcome back to the User Forum modeling challenge series!
Continuing from our exploration of the deceptively complex geometry of a nail clipper...
...this month we are focusing on another object commonly found on sinks or shower shelves.
MISSION Model for Me #2: The Classic Liquid Soap Dispenser Pump Head
At first glance, it may seem like just a tube, a nozzle and a plunger. However, accurately modeling it as a functional multi-part assembly (or as a clean, multi-feature single part) reveals its intricate, (magical!) engineering, including compound angles, internal fluid channels, multi-directional drafts, ribbed collar threads & ergonomic contours.
🛠️ Challenge Overview
Your goal is to model a standard, functional liquid soap pump assembly (or its primary external components) in SOLIDWORKS. Show us your thought process & don’t just post the final render; share your

Key Design Features to Capture:
- The Compound Spout Nozzle: A downward-sloping, tapered exit orifice that smoothly transitions into the main plunger column.
- The Actuator Head (The Piston): This features an ergonomic top contour (often slightly concave or textured) and an internal sleeve that accepts the dip tube and spring housing.
- The Threaded Collar/Closure Cap: Includes either external or internal multi-start threads (or a simplified representation) along with ribbing details that provide grip for twisting it open.
- Draft and Wall Thickness: Consider realistic injection molding practices such as uniform wall thickness, internal ribs, and proper draft angles.
📋 Rules & Guidelines
- Software: Use any version of SOLIDWORKS.
- Format: Upload your native part or assembly files, along with key screenshots highlighting your Feature Manager Design Tree, and a rendered or shaded-with-edges view.
- Show Your Work: Include a brief description or screenshots explaining how you tackled the most challenging part (for example, did you use a boundary boss for the nozzle transition? How did you handle the thread feature?).
- Blur/Spoiler Tags: If you share step-by-step hints in the comments, please use spoiler formatting so others can work through the challenges themselves!
🤔Whaddya think - is hard? or just a "...Hold-my-beer🍺" eash-peezy challenge?🤔
What was your biggest hurdle while modeling this object? Did you primarily rely on classic extrudes and cuts or did you utilize surface sweeps and lofts for the actuator head?
Let’s see those feature trees! Share your work below. 👇
