I just installed 2009 with SP1.0. I like to create simpleassembly drawings for our customers with full color shaded viewsthat I email as PDF's. I does not take as long as playing withPhotoWorks and still creates a nice picture for the customer.
The very first part I opened is a simple turned part that wascreated in 2008. The entire part has a color assigned to it (blue). One face on the outer surface has cross knurling that I representwith a texture (waffle rotated 45 degrees if you care) with the"Blend Color" box checked. This has always worked fine in 2008.When I open the part in 2009, the preview shows my part with thecorrect color, but when it finally opens, it reverts to a graycolor (default for 6061 Alloy?) If I RMB the part name in thefeature manager and select the Appearance icon, there is no submenu for color in the Color/Image tab. If I RMB the solid body andselect the part number, I do get the color sub menu, and I canchange the color of the part, but the textured area still staysgray. If I RMB the face with the texture and click on theAppearance icon, once again the left menu does not show a coloroption, and the "blend color" check box is gone form the Appearancesub menu.
Seems like when SW morphed colors and textures into this new"Appearance" utility they forgot some parts.SolidworksGeneral
