I've found a way to get the URL for directly linking to replies/comments/likes ANYWHERE in a post

Hey @AV - I saw in one of your posts on the Jive forum that you weren't able to post a link directly to a reply that was buried deep down in the comment area of a 3DSWYM post. You expressed your desire for @RP to look into a solution for this. because it was a favorite tool of yours to bookmark/share useful info from the Jive forums that can be difficult for other to easily find.

Well, I think I've found a (somewhat haphazard) way of getting the URL link for ANY like, top level comment, top level reply, sub-level reply to a top level reply, etc.

The trick is that you have to have received a notification regarding that comment/reply/like in your "3DNotification Center". If you click any notification, it will take you DIRECTLY to the object of notification (be it a comment, reply, like) no matter how many sub-levels down it is. It will then briefly highlight the object of notification with a pale blue background which then fades away.

For example, here's a direct URL link to a "Like" made by @KS for a reply that I made to one of Kam's comment that he made to an Idea post authored by @LB . (WOW! That's a mouthful - DO NOT attempt to say it 3 times very fast!)

This indicates to me that it IS possible to share links to targeted content, no matter how deep it is buried in a posting. You just have to find a way to get the actual URL. After all, it makes total sense - this is a web interface so of course there has to be a metric gigaton of hyperlinking going on behind the scenes. Just not all of it is directly accessible to everyone. I suspect that it would not be that difficult for the UI/UX developers to add a "Share" symbol with the capability to copy the specific URL for each entry, rather than just the OG posting.

In the meantime, I suppose a person could sign up to follow a thread/posting that interests them so that they can get the notifications assigned to it. In that manner, they'd be able to backtrack thru their 3DNotification Center if/when they had a desire to share the direct link to a particular buried nugget of wisdom.

Anyhow, I just wanted to share this discovery with you and the community.

Cheers,

@EB
